Easy hand and nail care
Published on August 1, 2015
Our hands serve a heavy duty performing several tasks throughout our life and very often we neglect taking care of them. Hands can give out your age and reveal a lot about a woman’s life; therefore it is best to keep them in top shape. Follow these five easy rules for perfectly soft, young and beautiful hands.
Rule number one: Moisturize
Hands require special care because the skin is very sensitive and prone to ageing. For skin that is young and soft as silk use a moisturizing cream at least once a day to keep your hands hydrated. Manicurists suggest using moisturizers with oils as they better nourish the skin. Ingredients like retinol, vitamin C, vitamin B and glycolic acid all work wonders by increasing collagen production. Also don’t forget about the nails as they need nourishment too.
Rule number two: Protect
When doing home chores, especially with harmful chemicals like bleach always wear latex gloves. When cooking, wear vinyl gloves to protect your skin from any acids, dirt and stale smells. To keep your nails strong, don’t keep them in the water for too long as they become brittle.
Rule number three: Manicure
Don’t cut your cuticle, instead use a cuticle eliminator. Soak them in the liquid and gently push them backwards using an orange stick. Also do not forget to rub them with special cuticle oil at least one a week – this will keep your manicure longer and your hands prettier.
Rule number four: Shield
Use sunscreen. Just as your face, hands are also very prone to wrinkles and pigmentation which requires extra serious sun protection. Sunscreen used for the body can dry out the skin on your hands, so use your face sunscreen instead.
Rule number five: Reduce nail polish
Minimize nail polish. The darker and brighter the color, the more harmful chemicals are in the nail polish. Try to use polish that is formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate free. Occasionally give you nails a break by not wearing any nail polish at all. When you do cover your nails with polish, opt for light colors. To restore damage done by nail polish rub petroleum jelly or vitamin E oil over the entire nail bed and cuticles.
