Selena Gomez opens up about disease

In a recent interview to Billboard magazine, Selena Gomez revealed the reason she cancelled part of her last tour and her absence from spotlight; the star admit that she was diagnosed with lupus and was undergoing treatment. The 23 year old celebrity took a break from work back in 2013 cancelling part of her tour to undergo chemotherapy treatment of the autoimmune disease.
Lupus is a disease in which the immune system cannot tell the difference between healthy tissue and viruses and bacteria, attacking its own healthy organs and tissue. It is a chronic disease that can affect almost any part of the body typically the blood, joints, skin and kidneys. According to doctors lupus may increase the risk for heart attacks and strokes. There is no cure for lupus, so the young star will always have to watch her health.
Gomez said she is still uncomfortable talking about her disease, but can relate to others who are undergoing the same health issue. Currently, Selena is back on track actively promoting her latest album called Revival. The also recently announced her 2016 tour with the album.
