In UAE the long awaited Apple phone went on sale at midnight Saturday, with people standing in lines to get their hands on the latest model. Local telecommunications services providers Du and Etisalat, as well as large electronic stores saw large numbers of customers eager to buy the new phone. Besides the over the counter sales, there were also many who wanted to receive their prepaid orders.  Special outlets had to be opened to meet the demand for the new phones.
From the outside there are almost no physical changes to the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus if you compare it with the previous iPhone 6 model.  However, in the inside it is a whole new device according to inventors. Apple launched the phone under the tag line “the only thing that’s changed is everything”.  Now that the phone is out, discovering what exactly “everything” is will be easier to find out.

On the outside
To begin with the appearance, the biggest change is the addition of the new rose- gold colour to the gold, silver and space grey options. As for the displays, they remain the same as the iPhone 6 which are 4.7 and 5.5 inch retina displays. Now, remember the stories of the bending iPhone 6 that circulated when the 6 came out? Apple didn’t forget those; the new 6s and 6s Plus are made of stronger aluminium. If the original iPhone 6 cover was made from 6000 series aluminium shell, the new models are made of 7000 series. Even the glass is more durable.

Touch and Tap
Another breakthrough is the 3D touch option; everything ‘touch’ about the phone is taken to a whole new level. The 3D touch is a new way of tapping. Access to apps is simplified with the phone’s ability to recognize the pressure of a tap. Depending on the tap, there are now pop ups that give you a shortcut menu with a few options. Fingerprint detection has also improved with the 2nd generation of the touch ID; you can unlock your phone two times faster.

World’s most popular camera
Great thing for those of us who love taking photos, the camera has been upgraded.  Boasting sharp quality, the iSight camera is now 12 megapixels. The front selfie camera has also been improved to 5 megapixels and a True Tone Retina Flash feature, summing up to better quality selfies. Live Photos feature will bring your photos to life when using 3D touch by capturing seconds before and after a picture was taken, thus creating more lively photographs. Autofocus is speeded up, colours are deeper and brighter, and the 6s Plus has an image stabilization option. Video will also be more graphic with an improved 4k quality which is far better than a 1080p HD video!

Not bigger, but better and faster
Equipped with a 64bit processor and an M9 motion coprocessor, the new generation of iPhones react much faster; 70 percent faster with CPU tasks and 90 percent faster with GPU tasks.  Add to the list, Wi-Fi twice as fast with up to 866MB/s. Data service will also run much smoother.

On the other side of the coin
The long issue of fast battery drainage has still not been solved, even though iPhone 6s Plus is rumoured to be slightly more long lasting. Despite its exciting function, the 3D touch doesn’t work on every app and still needs some framework to be done.

The prices on the new models vary slightly depending on the distributor; however the generally remain within the same scope. Electronic stores have almost identical prices as those of Du and Etisalat.
